*Please note: This is not to be confused with the 300 Block “Look Book” project I photographed.

“300 Block,” taken exclusively on 35mm color film, explores consumerism and the human tendency of collection. This series features portraits of customers who purchased items at the various antique, vintage, consignment, and thrift stores that can be found on and surrounding the 300 block of Queen Street in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. These photos were taken moments after the customers’ purchase and were accompanied by quick conversation, inspiring short quotes or remarks about some of the photos. Unlike traditional retail, these items are usually one-of-a-kind within a particular store. Purchasing these items of a unique nature transforms a common act into a more personal experience. Through “300 Block,” I hope to give insight into the intimate characteristic of an otherwise common activity.
